We Need You!

We would love to have you join us in our mission!  As we seek to expand our services, we are in need of compassionate individuals who share in our vision to support families experiencing one of the greatest of losses.  In giving of your time and yourself, you can assist in impacting the lives of these families through several different areas of service.  For more information, or to discuss which opportunity would be most appropriate for you, please contact us.

  • Crisis Companioning:
This requires a one day, six hour training class. We train and prepare you to visit families in the hospital that have just had a loss and provide the Rachel’s Gift service to them.
  • Follow Up Notes:
Requires a 1 hour training. The job involves adopting one of the hospitals we serve and handwriting follow up notes to the mom’s who we visited at that facility. We send a personal note at 3-4 months after their loss, 6 months, and 12 months.
  • Follow Up Phone Calls:
Requires 1 hour of training. This involves calling moms about two weeks after they have come home from the hospital to check in with them. This could also involve calling a mom who is struggling  and needs some additional attention.
  • Sewing:
    1. We provide a baby blanket to each of our families. The size does not have to be exact but a blanket close to the size of 21 inches x 21 inches is perfect.
    2. Rachel’s Gift offers burial gowns if one is needed. We receive donations of wedding and special occasion dresses and the gowns are made from those materials. A pattern is provided.
  • Support Group:
If you would be interested in helping facilitate a support group in your area everything you need can be sent to you in email form. You would be required to sit in on two current support group meetings to observe.
  • Dispatch:
Requires a 1-2 hour training. This involves answering the 24 hour hotline number for one week approximately three to four times a year and dispatching a volunteer to the facility in need.  Would need to be local in the McDonough-Stockbridge, GA area.
  • Fundraising:
We are in need of any fundraising help you can provide, whether it’s assisting with one or developing one on your own.
  • Community Awareness:

We would love to come and talk to your church or civic organization about Rachel’s Gifts and the various opportunities available for volunteering.

  • Photography:

If you are a photographer and want to donate some time to capture tender portraits of our "sleeping angels" please contact us! All volunteers will be trained on how to use their talents to capture images that help create photographic memories of these angels, for families, that they would be proud to share with other family members, and future generations.

If you are interested in Volunteering, please complete this form and we will be in touch with you.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide to help us with our mission of wanting no mother to suffer alone after the loss of a child.
